&cDisp=& &tDisp=In recent years the analysis of product lifecycles has led to some surprising discoveries concerning the environmental impacts of basic everyday activities. A prominent example is the difference light bulb technology can make to our household energy consumption. Improved efficiency in low energy lighting and the assurance of reduced electricity bills has contributed to substantial growth in the consumption of compact fluorescent and more recently LED light fittings. Lisa Gasparotto brings an immediate, innovative design approach to these technologies . Employing traditional weaving techniques with 'off the shelf' components, she reconfigures LED fittings and cords to create netted lights that have the sparkle of a cocktail night dress yet reflect the 'slow burn' of more parsimonial hand crafted weaving patterns. This direct intervention is both versatile and highly personal, promising a lighting form that can be easily reconfigured for different needs and desires whilst minimising environmental impact during re-creation and use. &
